Quynh Nguyen was born in Vietnam, but grew up in San Jose, CA. She received her B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford in 2005 and her MSPH (2009) and PhD (2011) in Epidemiology from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. After working two years as a data analyst at the Institute on Urban Health Research and Practice at Northeastern University in Boston, she joined the faculty at the University of Utah and is currently Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Education. Her research focuses on adolescent/young adult health, the health of underserved populations, and the development of tools and resources for social epidemiology. As part of her K01, she is utilizing geotagged social media data to construct a national neighborhood database to be made available to other researchers.
