We are pleased to announce the formation of the Center for Transplant Science and Innovation (CTSI) within the Penn Transplant Institute (PTI).
Penn has a long tradition of leading Transplant science through basic and translational investigation. Establishing the CTSI within the PTI will further these efforts through a collaborative multidisciplinary platform with surgical and medical partnership working to advance the field of transplantation by developing novel therapies that increase the organ supply and improve patient care. Penn’s rich scientific community offers unique opportunity for collaboration across our campus, including CHOP, the School of Veterinary Medicine, the Penn Institute for RNA Innovation, the Center for Cellular Immunotherapies, and the Penn Institute for Immunology and Immune Health, among many others. The CTSI research effort will complement the strong clinical programs in the PTI that span all solid organs yielding further clinical advances and attracting support through the National Institutes of Health, foundations, and philanthropy.
To advance this initiative, we have enlisted NIH funded senior investigators (Edward Cantu, Jason Christie, Matthew Levine, Kenneth Margulies, Ali Naji, and Rebecca Wells) to serve an active collaborative and advisory role for the CTSI within the PTI.
It is an incredibly exciting time for the transplant field with many innovative therapies coming on-line, and there is no better place than Penn Medicine to capitalize on these opportunities and champion this exciting effort.
