Research Informatics Tools & Support

We use a variety of tools for statistical analysis and accessing proprietary data sets. Examples are listed below.

SAS
A statistical software suite developed by SAS Institute for data management, advanced analytics, multivariate analysis, business intelligence, and predictive analytics. SAS is the software most frequently used for data analysis and modeling.

R
A language and environment for statistical computing and graphics; R is free and becoming a popular choice among more newly-trained researchers.

STATA
An integrated statistical software package that provides everything you need for data manipulation. Coding in STATA is similar to coding in SAS.

PENN Data Store
A research repository of clinical data maintained by the University of Pennsylvania Health System. This repository contains demographics, health history, diagnosis, lab results, and healthcare data that the CRCU can draw from in support of Penn based trials.

REDCap
A data entry and reporting tool that is hosted by the Perelman School of Medicine.
