"Using Mediation Analysis to Decompose the Effects of Genetic Variants on Type 2 Diabetes Risk through Metabolic Risk Factors" Marijana Vujkovic, PhD Biostatistician Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania I am an Epidemiologist and Bioinformatician trained in clinical nutrition, population genetics, and pharmacokinetics. I am experienced in the analysis of whole-exome sequencing and genotyping data, phase III clinical trial data, food frequency questionnaires, and hospital billing data. As an early investigator in the VA's Million Veteran Program, I am leading projects to define the genetic underpinnings of cardiometabolic outcomes including diabetes and metabolic liver disease. My goal is to develop an independently funded scientific program, in which I apply advanced epidemiological concepts and methods to population genetics utilizing the strength of biobanks with longitudinally collected EHR data. In specific, my aim is to separate biological from mediated pleiotropy of cross-phenotypic genetic variants on cardiometabolic risk factors and outcomes in the Penn Medicine Biobank and the Million Veteran Program.
