Fasiha Kanwal, MD, MSHS, serves as Investigator of the Clinical Epidemiology and Comparative Effectiveness Program for the Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness, and Safety in collaboration with the Michael E DeBakey VA Medical Center, as well as Associate Professor of Medicine of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She received her medical degree from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan, and subsequently gained advanced training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She also received a master's degree in health services through the UCLA School of Public Health, with an emphasis in biostatistics and research. Her research interests include structure, processes, and outcomes of care, health-related quality of life, viral hepatitis, and chronic liver disease. Dr Kanwal has authored or coauthored articles that have been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including Annals of Internal Medicine, Hepatology, and American Journal of Gastroenterology. She is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and American Association for Study of Liver Diseases.
