Jared Baeten, MD, PhD Vice Chair, Department of Global Health Professor, Departments of Global Health, Medicine, and Epidemiology Director, UW/Fred Hutch Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) Co-Director, International Clinical Research Center University of Washington   Dr. Baeten is Vice Chair and Professor in the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington.  His research focuses on the prevention of HIV-1 and other sexually transmitted diseases, including clinical trials of novel prevention interventions, epidemiologic studies of risk factors for HIV-1 transmission, and biobehavioral and implementation science research aimed at optimizing prevention delivery.  He led the Partners PrEP Study and MTN-020/ASPIRE, randomized clinical trials the proved the efficacy of tenofovir-based pills and the dapivirine vaginal ring as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) against HIV-1 acquisition.
