Expanding the Reach of the EHR Through Data Integration With the increasing availability of electronic health records (EHR) data, it is important to integrate evidence from multiple data sources, enabling reproducible scientific discovery. However, we still face practical challenges. Learn from Yong Chen, PhD, about recent work on the effective integration of large EHR datasets in various hospitals that are not allowed to share individual patient-level data, due to privacy concerns. Bridging the Gap Between Complex Sensor Data and Knowledge The proliferation of wearable sensor devices has allowed comprehensive, dense assessments of multi-dimensional biosignals collected from people in everyday settings. But such data often present with complex multivariate structures and are variable over time, study design and choice of device. Hear from Haochang Shou, PhD, how a series of projects addresses the challenges to statistical analyses and effective clinical use. Drs. Chen and Shou, the second annual class of DBEI Distinguished Faculty, will deliver these special talks via Bluejeans. Look for talks by Blanca Himes, PhD, and Pamela Shaw, PhD — our third annual class of DBEI Distinguished Faculty — at our next Research Day, March 24, 2021.
